Careers at Zeroed-In
Manager, Accounting Advisory
Remote (United States)
Who Are We?
Zeroed-In Consulting is a fully-remote tech-enabled accounting advisory firm focused on complex accounting and helping finance leaders at high-growth startups shift from reactive to ready.
Founded in 2021, we bring clarity, not complexity, to the accounting and finance challenges that come with scaling fast, whether that’s navigating a first audit, cleaning up messy books after a funding round, or building a finance function that can keep up with growth.
We don’t just stay in the loop on the latest tech. We’re tech pioneers for the accounting industry, leaning into AI and automation to get things done faster and smarter, for us and for our clients.
Our services include:
- Outsourced Accounting: Comprehensive services including Fractional Controllership solutions.
- Technical Accounting: Expertise in navigating US GAAP and the technical accounting challenges that come with high-growth startups.
- Audit Prep: Guiding clients through US GAAP financial statement audits and reviews.
- Financial Due Diligence: Helping clients maximize their success for a sale of a business, or a new acquisition, through Quality of Earnings projects.
- Accounting Transformation: Implementing AI and automation solutions for our clients to optimize their accounting and finance processes.
Why Us?
- We Thrive in the Mess: Many firms avoid companies with messy accounting records; those are our favorite clients. We work best with high-growth businesses often reaching debt or equity fundraising of $10M+. This is often when they reach requirements for more complex US GAAP accounting, and robust month-end closes, while having a small accounting team that is stretched thin. Auditors, CFOs, and Controllers bring us in when there are accounting fires to be put out. And we always rise to the challenge.
- Our Culture: Technical areas like US GAAP and accounting processes often bring an image of quiet, analytical accountants who prefer to work off-camera and in silos. That’s not us. We’re building a team of fun-loving and motivated professionals who enjoy solving problems, adding value, and building relationships with our clients and each other. We’re sharp, fast-moving, and resourceful. A typical ZI conversation focuses less on the ins-and-outs of accounting, and more on recent travel/trips and outdoor activities. A team member once called us a bunch of “cool nerds,” and honestly, we’re into it.
- Technology & AI: We’ve all heard about new developments in technology and AI. Most people in accounting/finance aren’t sure how to apply it, and many even avoid it. We’re on the other end of that spectrum. ZI’s mission is to lean into technology to make accounting easier for our team and our clients, and we’re working with the latest tools to make that happen. Team members are given subscriptions to tools like ChatGPT and Claude and are expected to dive into new ways to use it. This has led us to solutions that save time and increase accuracy in our projects, and we’re not stopping there. We embrace a culture of experimentation. Failure isn’t penalized, but a lack of trying is.
- Work-Life Balance: We strive for a new way of working for our team members, away from the traditional firm model of heavy hours and burnout. We don’t want our team members to work more than 40 hours a week, and we practice what we preach. Unlimited PTO with an average of 7 weeks per person, a fully remote work environment, and flexibility on when and how you work. What we ask in return is that you bring your A-game to work: jumping on client requests, supporting team members on other projects, and internal initiatives outside of that. But when you take your time off, enjoy it; you won’t be hearing from us.
Truth is, we’re not for everyone, and that’s okay. Many may read this and feel it’s not for them; no harm done. But if you’re reading this and feel like we’re your people, then I look forward to your application and can’t wait to share more of the ZI experience with you.
You Might Be a Great Fit If You…
- Have told a friend “I actually like accounting” without a hint of irony
- Get a little excited when you find the error that’s been hiding in a reconciliation
- Have juggled multiple deadlines and didn’t just survive, you kind of liked it!
- Use AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to make your work easier, even if it was just to draft an email or summarize a document
- Want to work somewhere that feels like a team rather than a hierarchy
What Will You Do?
At any given time, you’ll be across 3–5 client engagements in different industries and stages of growth. Some need a steady hand through their first audit; others need someone to untangle months of deferred revenue. No two weeks look the same, and that’s by design. Your day-to-day will include:
- Assist in accounting research and draft technical memos for client deliverables
- Lead or manage period-end close processes across multiple client engagements
- Identify and implement automation opportunities using AI and other tools
- Prepare and review memos, workpapers, and supporting documentation for client audits and transaction diligence reviews
- Lead financial statement preparation and review
- Navigate ad-hoc projects and shifting priorities across engagements. Flexibility is part of the job, and we think it’s the fun part.
Support internal initiatives for the growth of Zeroed-In, including:
- Sales and business development efforts, by joining prospective client meetings and crafting project proposals
- Contribute to ZI thought leadership, whether that’s a LinkedIn post, a webinar, or an internal knowledge share
- Participate in brainstorm sessions and drive firm-building initiatives
- Stay current on developments in accounting standards, AI, and technology and bring what you learn back to the team
- Help shape what ZI becomes! We’re still building, and your voice matters in candid brainstorming sessions about our culture, vision, and growth
What Do We Need?
Before we get to the checklist, here’s what really matters: we’re looking for a motivated Manager to join our dynamic team. You’re curious, you take ownership, and you genuinely enjoy working with people. Accounting skills matter (see below), but culture fit is what sets a great ZI team member apart from a qualified resume. The ideal candidate is ready to jump right in to support client projects, drive internal initiatives, embrace challenges, and step outside their comfort zone to foster both personal and professional growth.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of US GAAP
- Exposure to AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) in a professional or personal capacity. You don’t need to be an expert, but you should have experimented and be excited to learn more!
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Who You Are
- Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented and ability to multi-task
- Highly motivated and can juggle 3–5 client engagements at once
- You communicate clearly and build real relationships with clients and teammates on camera and in writing

- You’re curious beyond accounting, whether it’s AI, data analytics, or a client’s business model, you want to understand how things work
- You’re excited by the startup environment. Wearing multiple hats isn’t a burden, it’s the appeal.
